God

Is there a god? Nature and revelation testify there is a God. It’s in the Bible, Psalm 19:1-3, NKJV. “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork. Day unto day utters speech, and night unto night reveals knowledge. There is no speech nor language where their voice is not heard.”

How many gods are there? There is only one. It’s in the Bible, Isaiah 46:9, NKJV. “Remember the former things of old, for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like Me.”

How do we know this god is the true God? No other God can tell the future like He can. It's in the Bible, Isaiah 46:10, NKJV. “I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come.  I say, ‘My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please.’”

Where did this God come from? He has always been since the beginning. It's in the Bible, 1 Timothy 1:17, NKJV. “Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, to God who alone is wise, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.” It’s in the Bible, Isaiah 41:4, NKJV. “Who has performed and done it, calling the generations from the beginning? ‘I, the LORD, am the first; and with the last I am He.’”

God created the world and all that is in it. It’s in the Bible, Genesis 1:1, NKJV. “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”

God created human beings. It’s in the Bible, Genesis 1:26-27, Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” It’s in the Bible, Genesis 2:7, NKJV. “And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.”

What is this God like? It’s in the Bible, Exodus 34:6-7, NKJV. “And the LORD passed before him and proclaimed, ‘The LORD, the LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children and the children’s children to the third and the fourth generation.’”

God is love. It’s in the Bible, 1 John 4:16, NKJV. “And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.”

God is holy. It's in the Bible, Revelation 15:4, NKJV. “Who shall not fear You, O Lord, and glorify Your name? For You alone are holy. For all nations shall come and worship before You, for Your judgments have been manifested.”

God thinks of you constantly. It’s in the Bible, Psalm 139:17-18, NKJV. “How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand; when I awake, I am still with You.”

God came down to our world in the person of Jesus, so we may know what He is like. It’s in the Bible, John 1:14, NKJV. “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.”

Why did Jesus come down to earth? It’s in the Bible, John 3:16, NKJV. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

It’s in the Bible, 1 John 4:9-10, CEV. “God showed his love for us when he sent his only Son into the world to give us life. Real love isn't our love for God, but his love for us. God sent his Son to be the sacrifice by which our sins are forgiven.”

Does God like other people more than me? God does not show favoritism. It’s in the Bible, Acts 10:34-35, NIV. “Then Peter began to speak: ‘I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism but accepts men from every nation who fear him and do what is right.’”

God does not only love good people; He loves the wicked as well. It’s in the Bible, Matthew 5:45, 46, TLB. “For [God] gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust too. If you love only those who love you, what good is that? Even scoundrels do that much.”

God loves us like a doting father. It’s in the Bible, 1 John 3:1, NKJV. “Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.”

We are to follow God’s example of love. It’s in the Bible, 1 John 4:11, NKJV. “Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.”

We are to be holy like God is. It's in the Bible, 1 Peter 1:14-16, CEB. “Don’t be conformed to your former desires, those that shaped you when you were ignorant. But, as obedient children, you must be holy in every aspect of your lives, just as the one who called you is holy. It is written, ‘You will be holy, because I am holy.’”

God’s love means that He must sometimes discipline us. It’s in the Bible, Proverbs 3:11-12, NKJV. “My son, do not despise the chastening of the LORD, nor detest His correction; for whom the LORD loves He corrects, just as a father the son in whom he delights.”

God never gives up on us. It’s in the Bible, Jeremiah 31:3, NKJV. “The LORD has appeared of old to me, saying: ‘Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you.’”

Nothing can separate us from God’s love. It’s in the Bible, Romans 8:38-39, NIV. “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
