Management

What principles of management do we find illustrated in the Bible? Effective management includes sharing the work load. It's in the Bible, Exodus 18:21, NIV. "But select capable men from all the people—men who fear God, trustworthy men who hate dishonest gain—and appoint them as officials over thousands, hundreds, fifties and tens."

Effective management includes supervision and affirmation. It's in the Bible, Exodus 39:42-43, TLB. "So the people of Israel followed all the Lord's instructions to Moses. And Moses inspected all their work and blessed them because it was all as the Lord had instructed him."

Management is one of God's gifts. It's in the Bible, Romans 12:6-8, TLB. "God has given each of us the ability to do certain things well… If your gift is that of serving others, serve them well… If God has given you money, be generous in helping others with it. If God has given you administrative ability and put you in charge of the work of others, take the responsibility seriously."

Effective managers recognize their limitations. It's in the Bible, Deuteronomy 1:9, TLB. "At that time I told the people, 'I need help! You are a great burden for me to carry all by myself."

Good managers plan ahead. It's in the Bible, Luke 14:28-30, NIV. "Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Will he not first sit down and estimate the cost to see if he has enough money to complete it? For if he lays the foundation and is not able to finish it, everyone who sees it will ridicule him, saying, 'This fellow began to build and was not able to finish.'"
